Ambassador Speech and Debate Club by Emily Tant

Communication is the single most universally useful skill a person can take with them into life. The reasoning for this is simple: In life, we have to deal with people and in order to do that we have to communicate with them. Doing so effectively renders one successful, and doing so unsuccessfully, causes obvious problems. Training young people to communicate is of absolute importance for progressive prosperity in the real world. Whatever profession you undertake, communication will play a vital role in achieving success. I Peter 3:15 tells Christians to “always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope that is in you.” In the homeschool community, academic speech and debate teaches those skills. Ambassador Speech and Debate Club has blessed our family over the past 5 years. We participate in weekly meetings that focus on various speech events,
apologetics and several different forms of debate. Tournaments held all throughout the country are fabulous places to present these skills and compete in the different events. There is a National Invitational tournament at the end of the school year for students who qualify. If you are looking for this type of experience for your student you should definitely look into our club for next year! One way to check us out and significantly help this debate community would be to volunteer to judge at our own local tournament next weekend.

WHO: Adults from our community-we need you as judges!
WHAT: Community judges are crucial because you’re unbiased and don’t know the students.
WHEN: Thursday-Saturday, February 5-7, 7:00 am -7:00 pm (judge 1 event, judge all day or all weekend-whatever works best with your schedule!)
WHERE: Concord Road Church of Christ, 8221 Concord Rd., Brentwood, TN 37027
HOW: No special skills other than understanding and recognizing good communication! You vote for President and other lawmakers, you can judge students ages 5-18 in speech and debate!

We do ask you to give a minimum of 2 hours or come spend the day with us and judge. You can register online to judge.

Check out our National Debate Organization website and learn more about this fabulous opportunity for your family!
